Smoking
has been around as early as 5000 BC; from then until the modern age,
this practice has persisted all over the world and has already been
viewed as everything from the holy to the obscene. To some extent,
smoking is a matter of
culture as much as, if not more than, a physical need. After all,
long before extremely negative perceptions on cigarettes became
widely known, smoking had already been in practice for religious
rituals and social gatherings. It is only fairly recently that this
practice became frowned upon for its health risks, and this is why
electronic cigarettes were invented.
Electronic
cigarettes are currently out on the market as a safer alternative to
cigarettes and tobacco. These gadgets gives the user the kick of
nicotine they need with less, if not none, of the carcinogenic
substances found in actual cigarettes. Also called a personal
vaporizer or an electronic nicotine delivery system, the e-cigarette
works by heating and vaporizing a liquid solution which the user then
inhales. The solutions can either release nicotine or flavored vapor.
While further studies
are still being conducted to get a full understanding of the benefits
of electronic cigarettes, many would agree that it is a step in the
right direction towards better health. Smoking may not be as much of
a religious act these days, but it is nevertheless a practice deeply
ingrained into society. Anything that could make the act safer but
just as satisfying is surely welcome.
