An
electronic cigarette has a number of characteristics that distinguish
it from traditional cigarette. While the mechanism—breathing in
from a mouthpiece—and sensation remains the same, the content is a
lot different. Unlike traditional cigarettes, what gets inhaled by an
e-cigarette user is pure nicotine, getting rid of the carcinogens
found in burned tobacco.
An
electronic cigarette is powered by a lithium battery, the same
battery found in most mobile gadgets. This battery is rechargeable
and has enough power to trigger heat that burns the nicotine. The
nicotine is contained in a cartridge that is attached to the
vaporization chamber.
The
vaporization chamber contains the electronic component of the device,
including the atomizer that creates the vapour when the device is
activated. Upon activation, a controlled amount of nicotine is
reduced to vapour in the atomizer, which enters the mouthpiece as the
user breathes it in. The user gets the distinct flavour and hint of
nicotine shortly.
One
apparent benefit of using e-cigarettes is that the cartridge can be
refilled and not just by one type of flavour. Many e-cigarette
providers offer a variety of flavours that make e-cig smoking more
exciting. The user can choose e liquids with light amounts of
nicotine.
